Summer Youth Recreation Assistant
You are energetic, proactive and a positive role model. You would help implement and supervise safe, engaging activities for children and youth during our summer camps. You will assist camp facilitators with their various camps, lead games, arts and crafts, and assist with administrative tasks.
Job Summary
- Assists in running activities, games, arts & crafts, and sports like sailing, kayaking, swimming, artistic movement & other physical outdoor adventures.
- Actively supervises participants to ensure a safe, inclusive, and fun environment
- Helps with set up and take down of activities and equipment
- Acts as a positive role model for children and youth, offering guidance and supports inclusion
- Handles some administrative tasks like attendance and daily reports
- 25-40 hours per week, 4-5 days a week
- Mobility (bike or vehicle) to get around the island
- Wage: $20/hr
- Must be available in July and August 2026- 8 weeks
Qualification and Skills:
- Experience and willingness to work with children and youth in recreational setting
- High energy, creative, reliable, and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to work alongside the coordinator and other program instructors
- Must be reliable with strong communication skills
- Between the ages of 15- 30 yrs old
- Valid Social Insurance number
- Has attended school in the previous year and will be returning to school in the fall
- Pass a criminal Record check
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Must have own accommodation on Hornby Island
